Rest in Peace my sweet Winton!

                             R.I.P   Winton
                February 1997? - November 10, 2008

I knew this day was coming-I tried to prepare for it, but is anyone ever prepared? I didn't know if I'd know it was time-but when it came to it I knew! I came home today from putting my son on a plane to my sweet boy just not acting himself! He was vomiting-he vomited three times in about 2 hours, was straining in the litter box trying to poop with no success and the telltale sign...he was wandering around the house looking for a place to hide. He was crying at a closed bedroom that he hadn't shown any interest in in years! He was looking for a place to die! I knew it was time! I called the vet and I was rushed right in. They were wonderful! I still had doubts about if I was doing the right thing. They took him back into the back to put an IV catheter in his front leg and then brought him back to me! This was my time to let him go! No more pain! No more dehydration! No more High Blood Pressure! No more fluids! No more wasting away! I hugged and kissed him and told him I loved him! I so loved him! What a sweet boy! He went so peacefully! The vet actually told me that his heart had stopped before she had finished injecting him! He was ready! His heart was ready! He was telling me it was time and thank god I was able to be there for him and help him!

I called my wonderful petsitter before I left for the vet! She has been with all of my animals for about 4 years! She raced to the vet to say her goodbyes to my boy as well! We were both there with him when he went to the rainbow bridge! Rest in peace my sweet Winton! You will be forever loved!

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Oh Penny, my face is are leaky as I read this. You know it was the toughest thing I ever had to do when I had to take Puss to the vet and just like you and Winton.

You have been such a special mom for that boy, and we know how much you loved and cared for him. For you to be there to ease his pain, and to help him to the bridge with your love and kisses is a special thing.

I had always worried that Puss would fall and die alone at home by herself, and even though I could have run away from the vets that day, and felt guilty for some time, I know now that I did the right thing for her.

Sending you big hugs to you and your special furry family from across the ocean.

Oh dear, sweet Winton. At least he was let go with love and had you there.
You are such a good Mom and my heart breaks for you. All of our love and healing thoughts go to you at this sad time.
Here is a poem that brought Mommy peace when she had to let one of our "Ones Who Came Before" go to the bridge;
Time to let me go my friend,
Because my life no-one can mend,
Its better to let me go this way,
Than watch me suffer night and day.

I'm happy to go, my time has come,
My quality of life is no longer fun,
Ive been so ill, so its not a bad thing,
To let me go forever resting.

Stay with me till I drift away,
Fast asleep forever I pray,
To relieve me from suffering and pain,
What more can I ask from my best friend.

Don't be sad, I'll be free from pain,
Never to be ill ever again,
I know you'll miss me being there,
But all the memories you have to share.

Thank you for being my best friend,
And all my needs that you did tend,
Try not to be sad, try not to cry,
Now's the time to say GOODBYE.

My dear friend, I am sooooo sorry for the loss of your sweetest boy. My mom had to do the same for Whiskers, the Cat-Who-Came-Before, but she didn't have anyone with her, nor anyone she knew who would share her grief. I am hugging you, Miss Penny and purring very hard and offering my purrs up to soothe your heart.

Our eyes are so leaky too. It's so hard when a friend has to go to the Bridge. Even tho you're sad from missing him, try to remember you did everything you possibly could for his stay here, and you even helped him go gracefully from this world to the Bridge when it was his time. We can't ask for more than that. We will purr for our Chloe to show him around at the Bridge. And we're purring lots for yall in sympathy.
Purrrrrrrrrs,

Farewell to your Winton. We are brokenhearted with your loss but know that he is at peace. We're pretty sure that there is a very special place over the Bridge for CRF babies--he is probably playing with my sis Sophie right now and they are comparing notes on how wonderful their last years were after all. Winton's mom, please take care of yourself now.

I just happened across your blog searching for CRF. I don't even have to read beyond this post to know that Winton was the one with CRF. I lost my baby in January to CRF and it was so so SO hard. I had been through a year and five months of subq fluids and all. His name was Marmalade.

Ironically his brother from the same litter is named Velcro (the same as your dog.)
