A week in review....

Mom has been working all week, so she hasn't had the time to help us post or to go visit our friends! But yesterday she was home from work sick(as she is today) so she took pictures of us and is posting-so I guess there is good that comes out of mom being sick!)

Winton is sleeping more again. Mom is still giving him his blood pressure medication and his chinese herbs but the fluids are becoming harder to administer. Mom said something about his skin feeling "leathery" which is making it hard to get the fluid needle into his skin. He tried to bite mom the other nite, he was crying, and mom was only able to get about 25cc's of fluids in. That's not enough! But mom doesn't want the fluids to hurt him or make him uncomfortable! The entire reason for giving him fluids is so he feels comfortable. She's going to try again today! But if he fights and it hurts him.....mom is going to have to re-think the fluid thing.

Kodak is much better now that he's on insulin twice a day. He's not running for water-he waits for mom to give him his insulin in the morning and at night!

I, Perf, am fine-that silly girl, Blossom, is always racing up behind me and pouncing on me! I guess she thinks it's easier to pounce on me and the dog than on Kodak and Winton. Mom still laughs at her because she races around the house-she has her own circuit training course!

Kodak back on insulin twice a day...

Mom said the vet called her on saturday. She got Kodak's lab results back and she wants him to get 1 unit of insulin twice a day. He had been on 1 unit once a day but Mom noticed him acting oddly and racing to any running water so she kinda thought that his blood sugar levels were kinda out of whack. So he's back on 1 unit twice a day of the PZIvet. Mom may have to go buy more PZIvet insulin because they have stopped making it!!! Other than that news...all is good on the homefront! Mom is happy with Winton's activity level-it really seems the chinese herbal medicine is doing some good.

She's a devil.....

A trip to the Vet

Kodak went to the vet today. it seems mom thinks he's been acting a bit strange-sleeping in sinks, acting hot and the most telling for a diabetic kitty, racing up to a running tap. So she took him to the vet today and our vet, Dr Evans took blood and urine so she could do a full work-up on him. He was due his annual blood work-up anyway! So those results should come back in a day or two.

We also found out that our vet is beginning. next week, a 6 month program to get certified in Veterinary Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal medicine. Our mom seemed overjoyed to hear that! It seems mom really believes in chinese medicine!! Well, Winton is on Chinese herbs for his renal failure....and it seems to be helping. Mom notice the other day he was purring on her chest-he hadn't purred in months!!! Mom smiled!!

Blossom and Winton....

Baby Blossom sure has made herself at home! She's taken over chairs and looks like she's been in the house for years!! But at least we know she's happy and safe when we see her like this!!

On another front, Winton seems to be doing a little better. Mom has been giving him a chinese herb, Rehmannia Eight Formula. A friend of moms who had a kitty with renal failure started giving it to him-and they said he had an improved quality of life. SO mom decided to try it. And she thinks it might be helping. Winton is eating and showing interest in food, he purred for the first time in a very long time this morning and he's been a bit more alert-not sleeping all the time! He gets 1/2 a pill twice a day. Mom's friend gave her kitty one pill twice a day but mom wanted to see how Winton reacted to it first. Here is what askariel said about it:
