Trouble Tuesday??

It's tuesday and the dog is amped up! We hope that she'll be going sheep herding today so she can leave the house and leave us alone! She only bothers me....I'm not sure why..I think it's because I smack her! And of course mom has to be there with her flashy box!

We're supposed to get rain here in southern california. We're hoping the burn areas don't flood!

A lazy Saturday!

A saturday with mom!!! We love having mom around! She'll be here with us thru next weekend! Maybe she'll let us visit our friends more regularly now!! We feel like mom has been a bit of a slacker-we'll have to get on her!

The vet called mom back yesterday about Kodak's Fructosamine and his protein...the levels have improved since his last vet visit. Mom is pretty happy!!!

We hope everyone had a great saturday! We know we did! We lounged in the sun, watched birds and snuggled with mom!!

A day at the Vet for Mom again...

Mom took me, Kodak, to the vet today. I had to have my fructosamine level checked and a urinalysis. But I'm always good at the vet-I only saw the vet tech today so I was in and out in no time, but when they brought me back out, mom was crying....it seems she was given Winton's ashes today and was bringing him home to his final resting place-home!

We have him back now. Mom doesn't have a special spot set aside yet. She's going to figure that out next week. But she received a wonderful book, Cat Heaven, and then she made a picture book of Winton on Shutterfly, which arrived yesterday. Mom added every kitties wonderful words to the picture book so that she never forgets the kindness and compassion that was shown to her and all of us!!

Thank you!

The Fires in Southern California

The fires that are burning throughout numerous counties here in Southern California are HORRIBLE! The fires have taken communities by complete surprise and have devastated areas! We are in southern california but not in the immediate fire area-yet we are feeling the impact!Mom had ash all over her car last night and as you see in the picture the large smoke-filled sky. And were at least 30 miles from the fires-it must be awful closer!! The smokey smell in the air, the smoke, the super low humidity, the winds-it's been awful! We hope and pray that every hooman and animal has been able to get out of the way of the fires-unfortunately that hasn't been the case...mom read in todays paper about two kitties that didn't make it because they hid under a bed when their hoomans had to race out of the house FAST! Their hoomans grabbed the carrier but the kitties were too spooked to get in and raced and hid, We are so sorry to anyone who has lost a house or a furry loved one during these horrible fires! We sure do hope it stops soon!!!

Thank You all! And some last pictures!

I just wanted to thank each and everyone of you( and I am slowly doing that) for caring so much to send such compassionate words! It means the world to me!

I wanted to share some pictures of Winton that were taken on his last day. My son was flying out that day so I had him take pictures of Winton and I-and I'm so glad I did!!! He was a great boy and will be missed! Thank you all for caring!

Rest in Peace my sweet Winton!

                             R.I.P   Winton
                February 1997? - November 10, 2008

I knew this day was coming-I tried to prepare for it, but is anyone ever prepared? I didn't know if I'd know it was time-but when it came to it I knew! I came home today from putting my son on a plane to my sweet boy just not acting himself! He was vomiting-he vomited three times in about 2 hours, was straining in the litter box trying to poop with no success and the telltale sign...he was wandering around the house looking for a place to hide. He was crying at a closed bedroom that he hadn't shown any interest in in years! He was looking for a place to die! I knew it was time! I called the vet and I was rushed right in. They were wonderful! I still had doubts about if I was doing the right thing. They took him back into the back to put an IV catheter in his front leg and then brought him back to me! This was my time to let him go! No more pain! No more dehydration! No more High Blood Pressure! No more fluids! No more wasting away! I hugged and kissed him and told him I loved him! I so loved him! What a sweet boy! He went so peacefully! The vet actually told me that his heart had stopped before she had finished injecting him! He was ready! His heart was ready! He was telling me it was time and thank god I was able to be there for him and help him!

I called my wonderful petsitter before I left for the vet! She has been with all of my animals for about 4 years! She raced to the vet to say her goodbyes to my boy as well! We were both there with him when he went to the rainbow bridge! Rest in peace my sweet Winton! You will be forever loved!

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Our weekend...

It's cold here. And super windy. mom has put out alot of wool blankets for us! Mom's hooman son is here so Winton has a lap to sit in alot! He likes moms hooman son!! Winton ate this morning after mom put him on the counter and now he's sleeping. Mom is going to attempt fluids today but if he doesn't tolerate it then she'll stop. Mom is really torn about what to do....she wants to make him as comfortable as possible but does not want to be that mommy who keeps her kitty alive just for her!!! But Winton will be the first kitty that mom will have to decide when "it's time" and it makes her cry!! She's had kitties before us, but it was when she was in college and her mom was left with those babies... Everyone says she'll know when it's time.....but she still cries and wonders if she's doing the right thing! Winton just continues to snuggle with her as do we all!!!

Mom has been SUPER Busy but is back in line!

Mom has been SUPER busy!! She was working on a pilot called "Glee". She just finished 17 long days on sunday and now she's back and able to spend more time with us! Even mom's free time was spent working-she would sometimes work 6 or 7 days a week with no days off....so we're really happy to have mom home!!

Winton is ok-he has good days and then days of just sleeping. Mom has to put him up on the counter to eat. ALl he wants to do is sleep. He seems a little better about 8 hours after his fluids, but mom says he's lost so much weight! She just wants to keep him comfortable! He is still tolerating his fluids ever other day. Mom is going to get smaller needles because he's crying and being more difficult getting his fluids. The other day he got 75cc's which is good. He hasn't bitten mom yet but he does turn his head and growl now which he never did. But mom keeps trying and will continue with smaller needles until he doesn't tolerate fluids at all. She says his skin is feeling leathery and is tough-which makes the needles harder to get under his skin-and he's just skin and bones. But he still eats when mom puts him on the counter! So as long as he enjoys eating......

The rest of us are good. Blossom really beats up on 3 Perf. And it seems Blossom is beginning to like Velcro, the dog. She doesn't really bother me much-she must know I'm Russian and stoic and not to mess with me!

***UPDATE*** Winton bit mom tonight when she was giving him fluids. The first time he's ever bitten mom! Mom is going to have to rethink Winton's care now.
